I decided to be audacious this year and send my boyfriend, who is in Peru with his family for the moment, a series of flower bouquets. One a day for a week until his birthday. The reason it was so audacious is that his family is in the florist business and use FTD every day. I’m not sure if they were sending the flowers to themselves down there, but the gesture has warmed them to me (finally), and I’ll be seeing Gabriel very soon. We had a combination Christmas and Chanukka this year, so we had arrangements of blue and white flowers intermixed with arrangements of red and green flowers, just like our family. I don’t know if you know how hard it is to find a consistently good florist. Back in the 1980s, there was a flower delivery service associated with a department store that has since been swallowed up by a larger company. I think that flower delivery company was the only one that could match yours in terms of quality, price, and promptness. Of course, they’re gone now, but you’re still here.
