Is there a worse holiday to miss than Mother's Day? I sailed right over it last year, and I suddenly noticed a palpable sheet of ice in my mother's voice over the phone ever since then. That is, until this year's Mother's Day, when I managed to skiff over to your website and order the most impressive thing I could find (which wasn't easy, because there's a lot of impressive stuff). My business, at bottom, is about persuasion, and if my persuasive powers are undermined by a poorly delivered PR gift, then I look bad, which makes you look bad. Is there some kind of large population of patient souls where you get your customer service people from? Do they also babysit for a trio of tiny terrors (ages: 3, 6, & 8)? I must have been on the phone with this person (I forget her name, sorry!) for at least a half an hour trying to order a simple flower arrangement and I have to chase around my terrors (I mean: lovely children) at the same time. OK. I have to tell someone about this. I was in the running for a good job at a reputable company. After a series of interviews that went OK but not spectacular, the recruiter told me I was a finalist out of five people. I’ve never done this before, but my mother told me to send flowers. I thought, what the heck? So I did. I skiffed over to your site and sent everyone who interviewed me a small bouquet as a thank you. About a week later, I got the job. Now, I’d like to think that it was my stellar experience and mad skills that got me the job, but I’m glad that those flowers may have given an extra push to the people on the interviewing committee.
