Is there a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with flowers? It's the quintessential red roses day, and I send them out to my girlfriend every year. Sadly it is not the same girlfriend every year, but maybe if I start to remember their birthdays it would make it easier. Valentine's Day is much easier to remember. It's always on the same day. The first time I ever received roses, I was still in high school. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time to get them from a boy. You know, I still get that same little twinge when my husband brings or sends me flowers. Don't take this the wrong way, but where he gets them from doesn't matter much to me. I wanted to tell you that the orchids I sent my mother in the hospital really lifted her spirits. She was thrilled to see them because she has orchids at home that she hasn't seen in almost a month. They couldn't be moved, but I wanted to give her something that reminded her of home. They were delivered in the morning, and I was able to visit her in the early evening. If there's a better way to get a woman to be initially impressed with you than flowers, I'd love to see it, because it would knock my socks off. I think men have a problem seeing this. I have heard a number of men say something to the effect of "They're just flowers, they don't do anything and they'll die too soon." I'd like to correct any misinterpretation that every man out there may have about sending flowers. These are not valid reasons for not giving flowers. I don't get it. Do they come to these conclusions because they just don't talk to women at all? Flowers are the best way to impress a woman. Please re-read that last sentence. (Sarah U. , Weirton WV )
