My mother sent me flowers out of the blue the other day. I called her up to find out what was going on, and she told me that she suddenly realized that she had a wonderful daughter. Some genius put me in charge of the flowers for the funeral of one of my classmates. I was dead set against the frivolity of having flowers at my father’s funeral. He detested frivolous things of any kind. The “broken heart” flower stand arrangement was just perfect for my brother’s funeral. Valentine's Day is one of those days where if you have someone to send flowers to, you're happy, but if you don't then you aren't. There are very few non-Saudis left in this city, but there are some. But still, it's amazing that I can send actual florist type flowers to my husband back home.
