The first time I ever received roses, I was still in high school. It was exciting and frightening all at the same time to get them from a boy. You know, I still get that same little twinge when my husband brings or sends me flowers. Don't take this the wrong way, but where he gets them from doesn't matter much to me. All I appreciate is the fact that he gives them to me. I have a story I want to tell you. I met my husband when we were both on separate trips through Italy. We had a whirlwind romance for about two weeks, and it was the best time in my life. This was thirty years ago. I hadn’t seen him in all that time. Well, about a month ago, I get a gift of flowers from him. Your flowers. And I realized that day was the anniversary of when we met all those years ago. He had been trying to find me all this time. We were both divorced, and we had another whirlwind romance. I insist on fresh flower bouquets sent to my wife’s office every week; from there, I take a small sample and put them on my desk. I also make sure I have some in the courtroom to ease the atmosphere. I wanted to tell you that the orchids I sent my mother in the hospital really lifted her spirits. She was thrilled to see them because she has orchids at home that she hasn't seen in almost a month.
