I don't know what I was thinking. I like to wander around when I go shopping, and the other day I happened into a florist, who had a special on a spring arrangement of irises and tulips. Though I often use your services for flower delivery, I was taken in by the price, and I sent some to my friend in Vancouver because she's going through a rough time right now. Well, I think you spoiled me for flowers, because I got a call from her when they arrived. She's didn't say anything bad about it, but I could tell from the tone in her voice that they weren't exactly glowing with radiance. Hmmmm, I thought. About a month later, things were still bad for her, so I decided to use you to send them (because I happened to be at home when I thought of it). The results were telling. She went on and on about how your flowers were so much better than the previous ones. She thought it could have been the time of year that accounted for the difference, but I knew better. I would never have thought to send flowers to my brother to congratulate him on getting a new job. Before I sent him flowers, I wouldn't have suspected that he liked getting them. Your flowers were just the pick me up that my sister-in-law needed. She's undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and there is a lot of time spent just trying to get through. People help, of course, but I think flowers help in a different way. Too many times, I've found myself sitting at home on the computer instead of outside enjoying the landscape and the people. I've found that if I think about the people in my life back in the US that I want to keep in my life, I have more ability to meet new people and experience new things. That's the whole reason why I took this job, was to experience a different culture. I decided to be audacious this year and send my boyfriend, who is in Peru with his family for the moment, a series of flower bouquets. One a day for a week until his birthday. The reason it was so audacious is that his family is in the florist business and use FTD every day.
