My family has not exactly been running up to congratulate me on my choice. They've been largely non-religious, but they celebrate Christmas like every other American family. I was surprised to see that my mother decked out the whole house for a hanukkah celebration, because I didn't know they would be going all out for me. It was very gratifying that though they couldn't say that they supported my choice, they were showing support anyway. The flowers I sent to my son and daughter-in-law for a congratulations on purchasing a new house actually got there. I mistakenly sent them to the new house address without thinking about escrow and even move-in time. I couldn't be there in person because I'm overseas, so I had to suffer through a night of thinking, "what did I forget?" It didn't hit me until my son called to say they were very appreciative of the flowers I sent.
