I've always been ambivalent about Valentine's Day, mostly because nothing ever happened. It's only recently that I've been in a serious relationship that has lasted through Valentine's Day, so maybe that has something to do with it. In any event, this last Valentine's, I was actually in a relationship, so I wondered what would happen. Societal attitudes, I guess. I got her some candy, and she got me some flowers. But not just any flowers. They were these eye-popping spring flowers with full fragrance and very pretty. Of course, they were your flowers, which is why I'm writing to you. I thought I’d give you an idea. I paired the broken heart roses with a few of the hope and honor crosses. They both have the same visual theme of the red crossing through the white field, but the two of them together at the funeral said just the right thing without having to use any words. We weren't able to see the flower arrangements we sent for our daughter's graduation from law school in person, but it was with great pride that we received the images over e-mail and saw how happy she was, with her friends and the family that was there.
