My father died after a long bout with cancer. I wasn’t in the right frame of mind to make any sort of arrangements, so my husband did most of them. Looking back, I could see that he was upset also, and he’s not exactly the arbiter of taste that he thinks he is when he’s in the right frame of mind. So when the flowers arrived for the funeral, I was struck by how understated and tasteful they were, entirely appropriate for the occasion. I felt kind of weird at first ordering flower displays for a funeral over the Internet. It's interesting what kind of preconceptions we have about such things. I was always under the impression that it would somehow "mean more" if I were to do that in person at a flower shop. Well, I went to a number of flower shops before going online to order from you, and it didn't feel right getting the hard-sell from them. That might be unfair because they're in business to sell flowers, but still, that's how I felt. I wasn't all that close with my Uncle Tommy, but it's sad when anyone dies, so I can only imagine how someone must feel talking to salespeople who are constantly trying to "sell them up" to more and more expensive pieces. I don't mean to sound like I dislike salespeople. But it's just easier in the long run to come to these decisions on your own. I’m with the Guard in Iraq. I couldn’t be there on our anniversary, so when I sent flowers, I wanted to get it right. And you people got it right. I have a story I want to tell you. I met my husband when we were both on separate trips through Italy. We had a whirlwind romance for about two weeks, and it was the best time in my life.
