I decided to be audacious this year and send my boyfriend, who is in Peru with his family for the moment, a series of flower bouquets. One a day for a week until his birthday. The reason it was so audacious is that his family is in the florist business and use FTD every day. I’m not sure if they were sending the flowers to themselves down there, but the gesture has warmed them to me (finally), and I’ll be seeing Gabriel very soon. Just for the record, my father really likes your plants that I've been sending him. The old codger will never admit it, but he appreciates the way they brighten up his dark, dank three-room cabin in the mountains. It's great to be able to remain in contact with people back home, especially when I'm able to send happiness in the form of flowers. I was dead set against the frivolity of having flowers at my father’s funeral. He detested frivolous things of any kind. But I must say that your flowers my wife chose for the funeral did add a certain amount of warmth to the service. I don’t know if I can explain it any better than that.
