Sometimes it seems like my children have all left me for their better lives in other places. At least they find time to let me know they are doing OK. I've always been ambivalent about Valentine's Day, mostly because nothing ever happened. If there's a better way to get a woman to be initially impressed with you than flowers, I'd love to see it, because it would knock my socks off. I think men have a problem seeing this. I have heard a number of men say something to the effect of "They're just flowers, they don't do anything and they'll die too soon." I'd like to correct any misinterpretation that every man out there may have about sending flowers. These are not valid reasons for not giving flowers. I don't get it. I don't know what I was thinking. I like to wander around when I go shopping, and the other day I happened into a florist, who had a special on a spring arrangement of irises and tulips. Well, I think you spoiled me for flowers, because I got a call from her when they arrived. She's didn't say anything bad about it, but I could tell from the tone in her voice that they weren't exactly glowing with radiance. Hmmmm, I thought. About a month later, things were still bad for her, so I decided to use you to send them (because I happened to be at home when I thought of it). The results were telling.
