I wanted to tell you that I ordered flowers for my cousin's birthday in Saõ Paulo, Brazil. Our family has always been very close, and I've been working in the U.S. for a very long time. Though I am far away from my friends, it's nice to know that I can let them know I am thinking about them in a time of sadness and loss. Flowers are so much more tactile and have more substance than cards or electronic messages, like they are stand-ins for you.
