Is there a worse holiday to miss than Mother's Day? I sailed right over it last year, and I suddenly noticed a palpable sheet of ice in my mother's voice over the phone ever since then. Back in the 1980s, there was a flower delivery service associated with a department store that has since been swallowed up by a larger company.
