I wish someone had told me about you earlier. I don’t like talking about this, but the flowers at my grandmother’s funeral last year were unnecessarily gaudy. She didn’t like a big show, and I always thought she would have disapproved of them. Unfortunately, my mother died this year. My great-grandmother’s funeral was much more sober than any other funeral I’ve been to (to many of them), and I couldn’t figure out why. Finally, it dawned on me, the flowers were wholly inappropriate for the setting. They were the whole color, the wrong style, and too ostentatious for the scene. I found out that the person in our family who normally orders the flowers (from you) had asked someone else to do it this time, and he ordered from someone else. The flowers I sent to my son and daughter-in-law for a congratulations on purchasing a new house actually got there. I mistakenly sent them to the new house address without thinking about escrow and even move-in time. I couldn't be there in person because I'm overseas, so I had to suffer through a night of thinking, "what did I forget?" It didn't hit me until my son called to say they were very appreciative of the flowers I sent. Too many times, I've found myself sitting at home on the computer instead of outside enjoying the landscape and the people. I've found that if I think about the people in my life back in the US that I want to keep in my life, I have more ability to meet new people and experience new things. That's the whole reason why I took this job, was to experience a different culture.
