I know you can't see it, but there's a big smile on my face because I finally got my father to break his long silence to my brother. They haven't seen eye to eye for years and have spoken in at least that long. I've always been ambivalent about Valentine's Day, mostly because nothing ever happened. Sometimes it seems like my children have all left me for their better lives in other places. At least they find time to let me know they are doing OK.
