Is there a worse holiday to miss than Mother's Day? I sailed right over it last year, and I suddenly noticed a palpable sheet of ice in my mother's voice over the phone ever since then. My confession is this: you weren't my first choice for sending flowers, but you were recommended by my assistant, who I guess had had a good experience.
