I was in the USA recently, and I discovered the tradition of Thanksgiving. It's such a wonderful time to take the summer and autumn harvest and put it to good use for family that visits. I was interested to see how my American friends celebrated, and from what I understand, there is a turkey and potatoes and that's about what the similarities are between families. I like the idea of having a major holiday before Christmas that kind of celebrates autumn and all its colors. I was also impressed with the flowers. I understand that not everyone includes flowers as part of the holiday, but if my friends are any indication, everyone should have flowers. I would like to start a Thanksgiving celebration in my country, and I can start with turkey, potatoes, and autumn flowers.(Irina K., Tallinn )

My best day this year was seeing the look on my five-year-old's face when she saw the giant package of flowers that my father sent to her on her first day of kindergarten. This may sound a little silly, but I hope it doesn't. My best friend's cat died over the weekend, and I couldn't think of anything to do for her being so far away with work and all. The best thing I could think of was to send a nice sympathy bouquet. I know how close she was to that cat, and I didn't really know how to say that in words. The flowers I sent to my son and daughter-in-law for a congratulations on purchasing a new house actually got there. I mistakenly sent them to the new house address without thinking about escrow and even move-in time. I couldn't be there in person because I'm overseas, so I had to suffer through a night of thinking, "what did I forget?" It didn't hit me until my son called to say they were very appreciative of the flowers I sent. It was then that I remembered giving the wrong address on the form, and I became more confused because they actually got delivered to the right place.
