It turned out that they got there before I even called the first time, and my father was enjoying them, but the nurse’s station got the wrong room. After that it was just a comedy of errors. I visited my father in the hospital this morning and was stunned to see that my flowers had arrived before I had. I know I had asked them to be delivered in the early morning, but really! I know you can't see it, but there's a big smile on my face because I finally got my father to break his long silence to my brother. They haven't seen eye to eye for years and have spoken in at least that long. I was able to get them together for my birthday, and the way I convinced them to come was to send each of them a note from me along with bouquets of flowers. It was the last thing I could think of to do, because these are not normally two men who would be affected by flowers.
