Neither one of them would ever admit that they were becoming closer or that the glacier between them would thaw, but that's what's happening because the mother-in-law was so impressed with the quality of the flowers you sent that she thought it was a gesture of reconciliation. I thank you for putting some joy into the life of one of my closest friends. Sadly, she passed away from cancer recently much too young. The flowers that were delivered to her hospice always brightened her day no matter what her mood was. I tried to visit with her as often as I could, but busy lives often get in the way of such relationships. The flowers she received had no such problems, though. She often said that it was as if I were there, and she would talk to the flowers as if they were me.
