I see my aunt Dierdre maybe once a year because she lives in Pennsylvania, but I always get the same greeting about how I sent a nice little vase of lilies to her for her 25th anniversary. I was dead set against the frivolity of having flowers at my father’s funeral. He detested frivolous things of any kind.
